Kindergarten Around the World

Our class was lucky enough to participate in a "Kindergarten Around the World" project over the last couple months. We partnered with Miss Murray's class at the Calgary French and International School in Calgary, Canada. Our classes created a dialogue with each other using Twitter. Each class created a Twitter page and used it to start a conversation.

Over the course of the project we learned a lot about each other; the similarities and differences in our schools and where we live. We also learned how useful twitter can be in the classroom. Each day during morning meeting we would pull up our Twitter page using our Smartboard. We would check to see if our friends had any questions for us or if they had answered any of the questions we had for them. When we were done asking or answering questions each student took a turn pushing the "Tweet" button on our Smartboard.

It was a great way to engage the students and to open them up to a larger world. We especially enjoyed sharing pictures with our friends. We would send them pictures of our sunny warm weather while our friends shared cold snowy pictures with us.

You can see the presentation that Miss Murray's class put together.

The Wilson School in New Jersey joined us on the project as well. You can see their presentation here.

We hope you enjoy watching them as much as we did participating in the project.

Finally, here is a write up on our project.
